Concert Ticket Prices
WTF??? 
Neil Young and Wilco @ the DCU Center
$250.00 x2 tickets
$16.55 x2 convenience charge
$1.25 x2 building facility charge
= $535.60....
for a concert??? are you kidding me??? for 2 people???
does any one else think this is insane?? not gonna make this one..  |

Was just having this conversation last night with my son...amazing the amount of money they want for Concerts nowadays.
My 1st concert was $8.50....I remember pitching a fit when I had to pay the exhorbitant amount of $23.50 once....for Pink Floyd.
unfortuanely They charge it because they know they'll get it. Sad, how are kids gonna enjoy their favorte bands.....I started seeing concerts when I was 16,can't see to many 16 year olds affording $250 a pop.

Wouldnt see it from me or my kids. Too many don't realize the value of a dollar or just how hard you have to work for your money nowadays. I wish more parents would instill this in their kids then maybe you wouldn't see this crap.

250 a piece is freaking ridiculous. i hate to pay more than 25 a pop. nobody to me is worth paying 250 unless its VIP all the way.

I have been DYING to see Bob Seger. I think it was last summer he was at Mohegan....I was so happy...until I found tickets STARTED at $250.......no way was I spending that much! Most I had ever paid for a concert ticket was $75.00 and that was long before I was married with a house & responsibility.....

Once I paid $525 for a pair of tickets to see Simon and Garfunkle when they got back together....it was my wife's xmas present, and the only reason I spent that much was i happened to hit for $500 at the same time so the timing was there.

Jenn you missed him 2 winters ago at the Garden. Was around $120 a ticket. Great show and glad I could see him in his last real tour. He is old but was still pretty awesome for 2 and 1/2 hours.

Nah how they get you is the venue charges $75 a ticket but they all got pre bought by ticket master that sells them for $150 a ticket ticket master sells all the good seats to 4th party venders stub hub and the like then they jack the price to 250 a seat......
Some places are skipping the bulk venders and just raising there starting price can you blame them....
the consumer is the one to blame..If people are dumb enough to pay it they will sell it

Duke Robillard, the voice and guitar behind the legendary roomful of blues and one of the best jump blues guitarists, playing for 15 bukc or 18 for the whole show. Cant beat that

I was a doorman at the Pelham in Newport in the ealry 80's and Duke Robbilard use the bring the house down. Everyone would just stand there and watch him rip off the sweet licks. The dude is a legend.

Local stuff is great, I see they have the James Montgomery band listed  .....but Kids can't see it because its in over 21 establishments.
Some of my fondest memories in High School were getting on the bus with all my friends, going into Boston and seeing concerts at the Gahden and the Orpheum....Kids just can't afford to do that anymore
I end up taking the kids once in awhile to the North Shore Music Theatre....but that still runs you $45 a ticket....but it is a great place to see a show.
The casino ballroom in Hampton is another option for Concerts, but it to is an over 21 establishment. |

DF - CHans is all ages, its a weird place. You can sit and eat chinese food and watch a show. I;ve sat next to Dads and there kids, sometimes you share a table. I'll be bringing mine in a few years! |

I had picked up tickets for the "Walking with Dinosaurs" show at the Garden this past summer as well as tickets for a Celtics preseason game.
If you buy online, they nail you for "courtesy charges" and "fees", but if you go to the box office you will only pay face value.
Granted, you may not get the seats you saw online, but you won't get screwed with service fees.

Chans is an awesome place, been many times and seen some really great shows, majority is blues. Bring some earplugs though as you are only 10 feet away at most of the tables. I am half deaf so it doesn't matter. Ch. food is good too.
Chris Duarte is very good on 3rd Nov.
Watermelon slim on the 11th Dec. is a great show I may go to that one

Paid 125 for Rush Tickets on their 30th anvers tour at Radio City music Hall in NYC. They played almost 4 hours so I thought it was worth it.

Seether played on Hilton Head a couple of weeks ago and my son really wanted to go see them. It was a $30 or so ticket. Not bad for a small venue. He worked a local dj to get the band to autograph his cd and ended up hanging out with the band for 10-15 minutes before the show. It really made his day.
On the other hand, I was hoping to take him to AC/DC until I saw the price. I saw them for about $15 in the 80s. I just can't picture them being $85 better! We're not going!
What was that song Neil Young used to sing? The lyrics went something like "I ain't singing for Pepsi, I ain't singing for Coke"?
He ain't singing for me anymore either.
