how much $ do you through out each year ?

i started tying up all my hooks and leaders fot the up coming season and i looked at what i was getting rid of , between the floro and all the hardware plus assorted lures and such i figure i throw away about 300-400 dollars worth of gear every season , how about you ?

I dunno,I pick away @ it,I start tieing up hook's put-em in da bindha, then buy rubbha cores, jigs, plugs ect I try to pick away @ it that way I don't hit it all in one lump sum cause come summer all of my money goes to eels & gas then beer

Live bait sharp hooks and timing is all you need

Way too much. I go to M&d's to get 7 eels and walk out with a few plugs and anything else i might "need". So a 10.00 visit turns into 50.00, its like magic or something. If i was more organized i could save a lot of money. I must have hundreds of spro swivels and breakaways somewhere. I'll be damned if i can find a pack when i need em though.

Everything is better on the rocks.

I'm going to put at least 200 miles per weekend on my car/truck from May 'til November chasing fish. Tackle and plugs lost are insignificant.

I bought a huge rubbermaid 30 gallon tub, put it in the back of my truck with all my plugs, terminal stuff, spare reels, line, etc. Great idea to have eveything handy, yet I couldn't find a damn thing in there with all the crap I stuffed in it. I still managed to buy more than eels each trip.

I don't really buy plugs anymore, maybe some rubber shads. I have sort of beat the plug-bug for the time being. The bluefish that inundated the canal mid-august finished off all my pretied leaders-then my organization really went to hell, there was no time to pre0tie so the back seat of my truck became a tangle of leader material and rogue hooks.

I have put aside a nice cash chunk for gas this summer, so I should be fine there. I do plan to buy a Saltiga at some point soon though.

Actually you only spent 200 bucks. If you have to you can unload it for about 800. Hope this helps.

I spend enough that if my wife ever found out, she'd be out shopping for a new car that same day. But as Tagger pointed out, there are lots of worse things to be spending money on so I don't feel guilty.

Mostly money on gas. At $100+ per tankful last summer, feeding a suburban that tows my little boat got expensive. I bet I averaged three fillups every two weeks, couple that with eels which my accomplice supplies and you start to get the picture. I would assume the eel tally alone had a +/- of 650. Throw in some pogies and some large quantities of seaguar........ jigs, plugs, swivels, lead.

I fish a lot with my brother. I think he owes me for Christmas presents for Naked #^&#^&#^&#^&y that we have been going Dutch on since 1989.
He bought me shiners a couple of times this year, though. Let's say, way too much!

"throw out" ???

Not sure what you mean by that.
Gear/tackle thrown away because junk at the end of the season,
or the cost of fishing each year.

I toss out really bad hooks and snaps. Some surface rust is not a concern to me but major corrosion is.Last year I tossed a couple reels that were seized up.One Okuma baitrunner and a walmart special bait chucker. This year not so much yet, most of it is the shed still rotting away.So for money spent in the past I save some this year hopefully.I do see some gear on the horizon but no VS or ZB .No new fangled rods for 500$.If I have to sum up what I throw out it would be close to 50 dollars. The reels weren't worth a penny and I got their money's worth out of them.
