				Flies for early season bass

		Hey,

What flies have you guys been using for the earliest bass? I mean the late April/early May schoolies in the bays/estuaries. I typically go with a 1/0 clouser in either olive, brown or chartruese. I've never tried to fish by a herring run but I imagine a big pogie fly might be good there.

My early season go to fly in Narr Bay is a small yellow/white clouser. Maybe #2 size. It works well around schools of bunker too - so much for matching the hatch.

sounds good. I was thinking maybe a blue or grey half and half around herring although I've tried it

A simple and trusty Ray's Fly is also always a safe bet in the early season, as it is pretty much all year long.

A Clouser, white over pink over white is allways killer. maybe taken for a small squid. Splashed the boat today, found no takers for 4 hr. Water was 50 inside the barrier, 48 up in the river and 45 slightly down the bay. Soon!
