I guess it will be status quo for now

here is a thread on it.http://www.stripersonline.com/ubb547...ML/022394.html

I'm not sure what you are looking for John, but it looks like thoise in charge of decisions can't seem to see the future and learn from the past. Sad really.

Chuck Casella has something in the spray this month. Fishing mortality lowered from.31 to .30. The threshold will increase from .38 to .41. Rec side maintaining the current 2 fish at 28". He says Mass will keep their 1 at 28" in place. The commercials are going to 100 percent of historical landings based on the average years 1972-1979. This equates to a 30 percent increase. The following issues were tabled Opening the EEZ to allow fishing out to 12 miles. That was initiated and supported by Mass DMF. Also tabled was establishing a coastwide biologically based limit Also tabled was the actual implementation of Ammendment 6. These things were tabled till the Febuary board meeting.

I have the comm SB application on my desk. I really don't want to be a commerical fisherman but I would like to see this scam exposed for what it is. As of this year, they are right back to where they were pre disaster years. I thought we humans learned from our mistakes....

What the hell ...it is so cheap it is like the state is encouraging this....
Commerical sb fishing should be no more, plain and simple.
If you can't beatem....joinem. They are going to take the tonnage anyway you may as well get a piece of it. (makes me sick to say it)

What is the reason ma is staying 1 @ 28 when everyone else is 2 and they up the commerical limit?

Mr Sandman if Mass goes to a 2 fish limit there would probably be an open and closed season. I know that NJ has no commercial fishery, so the commercial allocation goes to the recs.
