Yes, yes, & yes although you'd be best to get a 4 stroke... These are called "kicker motors" and you would probably want something around 15HP or so. But if you're running an I/O like a big V6 you won't save enough in gas to make up for it and you'll still be noisey... Consider saving the money but GET SEA TOW - that's your backup motor

My last boat had a kicker. It was a 23' WA Sea Ox that was built like a tank, very heavy. The 9.9 pushed it along at 6 knots, more times than I'd have liked. It also allowed me to troll very slowly as the 225 OB's lowest trolling speed was over 3 knots. I used the 225 as a rudder when trolling, which worked well unless it was real windy. Although it was electric start you could still pull start it if you killed your batteries, and jump start the main engine. I'd get a kicker, in addition to SeaTow, if I was planning on going out alot.

thanks

after reveiwing and figuring how much im actually gonna fish ill never be out of lands veiw a good sea tow package is right for me right now motor is new knock on wood!!! it should be good for a couple years with good care, the price to outfit the boat with a small outboard is too much right now, where as a good tow package is about the right price and peice of mind im looking for how many actual days could you get out to those grounds where the big ones are anyway with a 20 footer plus mrs is pulling the reins and saying slow down tiger!!! lol!! one more big obstacle after looking over my insurance policy it dont cover me 10 miles away from land so 20 miles out id be without boat insurance so for now im allset and be happy with what i got!!! thanks
