BM open this with caution
it might just make you wet yourself .
Finally got around to trying to get your olive/cream jerks figured out. Poured a mess and experimented, until I came up with 4 formulas I think are close, which are the 4 big splittails. I need you to email me your address, so I can mail them to you, so you can tell me which one you think will be best for the cape. The belly is a tinch of white and also yellow pearl color, sweet cream color, which I dare say will make you....well public board and all.

Dave I doubt the picture is doing that bait justice, but tomorrow will be a washout. Can't say I'm going to be pouring or painting, but if you want to shoot up and look over my shoulder on a batch, I'm sure we can get it just the way you like it. I'm using primary colors, all my formulas stem from that and when you factor in the plastic and scent, it's not the same as paint. I think you will probably wet yourself when you see them...trust me .
SS smoke back, clear belly with holigraphic glitter (throws all different colors) in my 7 inch split tail is a perfectt herring imitation.
The same in 5-1/2 inch absolutely kills them when they are on those late fall 4 inch peanuts.

Maybe by putting in some time of your own, running from run to run getting herring, setting up a holding tank at home to keep them in, making a tub to transport them in...going back to the run because they all died....
Experience, thats how you know. Try GOING fishing rather than talking baout it, you might figure things out.

it's not that i don't want to hurt them, it's just they are spawning- why interupt that?
a soft-plastic woud be so much better, if it worked.

depends-
i don't care about hooking herring *it's actually fun
but you can only take 10 day/angler and i would rather have a bag of soft plastics- rather than going out hunting herring to have them die.
back on topic b4 someone gets mad at me:
GS, please get back to me on that herring stuff-
thanks, Bill- for the website.

Funny last year regs were 24 per person per day except Sunday and Monday. This pertains to FRESH WATER only and the demarkation lines put on certian runs. In salt water you could fill a 50 gallon drum legally.
Striper Sniper,
You do know that MOST places that have a herring run have ponds that become de-oxygenated and full of bacteria from the mass amounts of fish in the pond at ome time. More die from lack of oxygen and bacteria than you think. How many herring do you think a comarant can eat in one day? Now multiply that by 100 per herring run. Add 2 racoons per herring run, some lobstermen, and you will soon see that you taking 24 herring per day will not hurt the population. DEM sets limits that keep things in check, dont wory, you could even take 25 and the whole eco system wouldn't collapse.
I'm sure you knew that, I know you've been around this game for quite some time.
Let me guess, you dont fish eels either, caase you have to put a hook in their head and out one eye, you wouldnt fish a live bunker ( if they ever come back) because you have to put a hook in there back and make them swim helplessly around out there in the great big ocean, and you wouldn't feed a snapper blue to a 10 lb fluke right? It's to much WORK to get the bait, keep it alive, transport it, etc etc etc. Guess what, HARD WORK pays off.
Tell you what, seeing that BM has offered to take you fishing in Cape Cod, You bring your soft plastics, BM will bring his herring and we will all keep tabs here as to who catches what.
