DZ Presentation this Saturday (2.6.10) at the SWE

Looks like the snowstorm is staying South, but the show goes on either way. 1PM at the SWE in Middletown, RI. No need to RSVP if interested, just show up and enjoy the show.

Dennis Zambrotta: Needlefish Plugs – What, When, Where, How,(and Why) "Presentation will cover the history of the needlefish plug from the 1950s to the present. I’ll also discuss the different types of needlefish plugs, how I rig them, how I fish them, and why. I’ll relate stories about needlefish color such as the origin of Block Island Green, great scores on Block Island, the heartbreak of screw-eye construction, and when oversize is better. Both informational and entertaining - this presentation will encourage questions from the audience. Through your questions I’ll be able to provide a better understanding of what I do and hopefully provide you a better appreciation of casting needlefish for striped bass in the surf. "

Thanks Thumper. The presentation went well (at least from my perspective) - saw a few familiar faces. Had a chance to speak with Sauerkraut afterwards - just love talking and learning from him. Some day I hope to cast Gibbs needles with him. At the last minute the SWE and I agreed to stream the presentation live. Not sure how many were able to catch it.

Great idea to stream. By any chance was it archived also for later viewing pleasure in case we missed the stream?

Buzz,
You have to pose that question to the SWE. I don't know the technical aspects but was told that it would take a large amount of space on their webpage. Maybe they will chime in here.

Works great. The actual presentation starts about 20 min into the time line.

Great presentation DZ from a needlefish novice, my take aways: have a daily plan and fish plugs you have confidence in (after 15 casts of a needlefish).

Thanks to the SWE team for posting this presentation.

Special Thanks DZ!

Special thanks to DZ for letting us use this presentation to learn the ins and outs of the livestream service. For instance, I didn't even realize it had saved a copy of the presentation and archived it until I saw it here. That's a nice feature as it will allow me to get a copy of the presentation to DZ for his review (Dennis I'll burn you a copy on DVD).

I don't think we'll keep these presentations archived online for long since the best part is getting a bunch of people in a room (be it in person or virtually and benefiting from the Q&A and other personal interactions. As an example of the latter, Arden is laid up in bed at home recuperating from a recent accident but was able to have 2 of his questions answered by relaying them through the chat feature. This must have made his day

Thanks again DZ for your willingness to share, we've learned a lot more about the process and it should make future presentations run even smoother. So anybody have ideas for other shows they'd like to see? Maybe we could even give Iron Mike that weekly talk show he's wanted for so long.
