VALENCIA, Spain — Larry Ellison's space-age trimaran BMW Oracle has won back the America's Cup for the United States by speeding across the Mediterranean to rout two-time defending champion Alinghi of Switzerland for a two-race sweep.
The 65-year-old software tycoon was onboard his incredibly fast craft Sunday.
Alinghi raised a red protest flag on its giant catamaran late on the first leg of the triangle course, but then dropped it after the race....

It was close for the first leg only then the tri-hull blew away the competiton. Can't believe they get those boats moving 30K in 8K winds.

There's already speculation as to where the Cup will be held. Even some rumor on it coming back to Newport, RI.

Would love to see it come back to Newport and would really love more classic rules and back to monohull. But the Cup is Back, for now.

Larry Ellison has purchased a home in newport so maybe it will come back

that would be big for our tourism. I hope he likes the tradition of holding it in Newport. They have it every 3 years?

My parents live on Bullocks Cove and we used to love watching the old 12's coming and going into Cove Haven Marina for repairs/upgrades.
