Take that Red Sox
Anyone who thought the red sox were a better team was served early notice this week by the yankees.
Honestly, that includes me, a yankee fan. I thought they lost more than they gained. It's early but Yankees look good.
Red Sox need another bat IMO

Anyone who thinks that either of these teams are better than one another right now isn't a knowledgable baseball fan. Talk to me at the All Star break and we'll see where they stand. I'm not saying the Sox will be in 1st at the break but I think they'll be close. The bats will be fine. Like you said it's early.

I will not make any assessments until 30 games in the season.

I do know that the sox charge the highest rates per attendee in the league, we should get more than what we get now

Its early. If Ortiz hits like he did the second half of they year excluding the playoffs we will be ok at least enough to get the wild card. Lester, Beckett, and Lackey will be fine and Bard and Papelbon will come into form. Hitters always are ahead of pitchers in April. If need be I'm sure they will acquire another bat.
Way too early to throw in the towel. Lets assess the situation 50 games from now.

162 games in a season and people are already making decisions about a team.
Hell, take last year for example where the Red Sox rolled over the Yankees 8 games to none and were first place in the division. Then the Yankees started to win right before the All Star break.
Just like the people that are saying the Becket is a bust after one bad game, people that try to forecast the season 3 games are completely nuts.

Pitching and Defense win championships......I think the Sox look pretty good in those respects.
It also doesn't matter who is hot at the beginning of the season...it matters who is hot at the end.....

I will say though.... that "run prevention" strategy had better work.

They have some offense...they'll still be up there in the offensive categories at the end of the season.

Read that umpire Joe West called length of the Red Sox/Yankees games "an embarrassment".
I am not into ref/umpire bashing, but the 3 missed calls at 1st base were an embarrassment. Cameron was safe at 1st on Scutaro's line drive DP. Teixeira was out on a DP. And Pedroia was safe on another play.
But I seriously do not get into the ref/ump bashing. IIRC, neither of these callas affected the outcome of any of the 3 games.
