New OTW! 50 Pounder Article!

Nice article in the new OTW about some accomplished anglers who have bagged their share of 50 pounders......and one of them is a guy I recognized??? Anyone else see it and recognize the fella I speak of?? He is one of the nicest guys on S-B and it did not surprise me in the least that his fishing resume is full of 50 pound fish! Great article and worth a look!! Curious if the guy I speak of has taken a 50 on one of his plugs yet??? Maybe he will chime in!!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

I've never caught a 50 let alone several of them so I don't know what OTW wrote about me, uhh, wait a minute...

OK, so its not about me (yet ) but I think there are a couple guys here worthy of that and while I haven't read the article yet (but will when I get my haircut this week) I think I might know who it is

I have not read it yet but i do see that 4 of them that I know of are members here.
I love to catch large fish, wish it would happen more often for me, maybe that 50 is out there waiting for me someday.
R9 puts his time in and works at it so it does not surprise me at all.

Joe is as nice as they come... Chatted w/him at plugfest for a bit. Shared a few tips which really helped me out.

There are alot of VERY good bass fisherman that have never caught a "50".. .. some of these guy's are ( or were) the hardest fishing bass men on the planet, not haveing caught a fish over the half century mark doesnt diminish what they have acomplished...some have forgotten more than I will ever know.

I've been blessed, I grew up eating, sleeping a drinking stripers...each fish I catch ( that goes for schoolies as well as cows) is a product of 40+ years of fishing the same water, I hit the jackpot with the timing of mobey sized stripers being available if one had the time to pursue them, I've learned alot from others, most, now deceased, i hope I never stop learning until they scatter my ashes over badger rocks.... when Jimmy Fee PM'd me about an interview, I almost dismissed it, not wanting to bring attention to myself...I'd rather go about my buisness in the manner that I have for so many years..., after talking to my wife, we decided that there would be no harm in a short phone interview... so what he printed (I have not yet seen the article) hopefully conveyed my thoughts.... I hope what I told him helps at least one angler tie into the fish of his or her dreams...

Rockfish9 and I spent some time talking about his 50's at plugfest...AWESOME STORIES, AND EVEN BETTER GUY.
50's will often be in the shallows...I was listening!!!

Mid story he heard they were about to do the raffle and he stopped and grabbed MORE plugs for the table(and ultimately the members), came back and THEN finished the story. Thanks Joe...

Amazing how 50's will be in skinny water, yet I need to cast a gazillion yards away...

Can't wait to get the article and add to my collection( will be under the heading HISTORY)

a fifty before I go!!!!!!

Going on 43 years of chasing Stripers and I never caught a 50. Close twice with 49 and change but never a 50. 2 of my partners have both while I was with them.

No boat, back in the suds.
