The Mass Bass Show is just a bunch of Red Sox fans bad mouthing the dreaded Yankee's.
ha ha ha. Crazy, this will be my fourth year going to the Mass Bass Show, I don't know if its worth the ride from NY, but around here it's the best fishing show. It focus' on local saltwater fish, the selection and price on gear/tackle is great, and you get to bump into some the faithful from this site and others, plus the lectures are always good and where else can you see two 73lb stuffed stripers. The warden at my house gave me saturday the 22nd off, so I'm still hoping to go codfishing in the morning and the show in the afternoon, but right now my boat is frozen to the ground in my back yard, it's supposed to 0 degrees tonight so who knows when the melt will happen.

BTW, have they lined up the speakers yet? If so, what's the schedule....not sure which day I'm going yet, and it depends upon the fore-mentioned, and also who might be going when, as there a few guys I'd like to run into. But I'll be there one day or the other....and hoping to fish before or after, somewhere nearby, weather dependent......

Distance from Ma and Pa's to show: 1.8 miles.
Nice.
Keep in mind that it is at the mall in Kingston this year rather than Cordage Park in Plymouth as in years past.

Its at the independance mall in Kingston. Downstairs...
Make sure you stop by the MSBA Juniors table, I will be working it with my son on saturday. They will have a great raffle. (I spied a nice 7 foot custom rod for the table the other night complete with an Okuma reel). All the proceeds will go the the junior division of the MSBA club...
Gonna be some great host speakers too.
Stop by and say Hello...

Al,
Don't you have anything better to do than drive 4 hours for the same old, same old.
I'll extend the same invite to you that I gave Danno. Come to my place, you can look at some tackle, we'll swap some of the same old stories, I'll charge you $12 for a pretzel and a coke, then you can go home.

Thanks for the info but nobody is really giving up the “meat” of the show.
Is it really worth the trip from Long Island?
How about the other speakers?
Approx. how many booths do they have?
and what kind of deals do they have (plugs, lines, hooks, flies etc)?
Is silly BM , Sir Slip , Saki man Habs , Tattoo man , and Mr. JohnR going ?
Hey Got Stripers… If I am there… I will make sure to stop by.
Yo WeeWee… I will be sending ya an email.

Is it really worth the trip from Long Island?
that's pretty subjective - odds are you won't see too much different than at other shows but here its pretty much all saltwater fishing shops involved
How about the other speakers?
A few other people, Charlie Soares, Doebly from the RFA, Bill -n- Juls...
Approx. how many booths do they have?
About 100
and what kind of deals do they have (plugs, lines, hooks, flies etc)?
Many tackle shops will be there and the prices are usually real good (and the odd shop stays high too )
Is silly BM , Sir Slip , Saki man Habs , Tattoo man , and Mr. JohnR going ?[/b] I'll have a booth. Can't speak for the rest (cept when Habs needs people to speak for him )
..... In a nut shell - it's 100 vendors & shops but 98% of just fishing and almost all saltwater. Lots of guides, some marine stuff, several reps, but mostly fishing. There are a handfull of big shops there including CMS (think Beachmasters )and Hatteras Jacks! I have not been to the big NY show (this past weekend??) but compared to both Wooooster & Springfield, this show is far better for stuff & prices for FISHING gear. If you want a portable smokeless turkey frier you might want the other show

I'll be there. I think its a good show. Very specialized to striper fishing in the talks and I always have gotten good deals there. They don't give the stuff away but usually its the best prices you'll see all year. Is it worth the 50 minute ride from my house....definitely. Is it worth a 4 hour ride from NY....depends on what else you have to do.
Best part of the show is seeing everybody there. At least in the local area , just about all the serious striper fisherman go one day or the other or both.
I think the talks are pretty good too. Last year stetzko's talk was good and so was Bill and Jules.
There are sometimes booths with guys selling nothing , just showing a collection of plugs. One year a guy was demonstarting some flytying , one year not. One year a guy had add on and retrofits to Keep Alive live bait systems which was nice.
Big assortment of people and booths. Hatteras Jacks had all kinds of reels and stuff for tricking out reels like ceramic bearings. CMS always has good plug deals and reel deals. One year (long time ago) I bought about $250 woth of Gibbs plugs from CMS at about $7.50 each (don't expect that this year! ) They usually have a good assortment of Mombo Minnows at good prices too. one year I got nice tackle bags cheap and very inexpensive blanks from M+D's but he's not there this year. There are some regulars and some new tables every year.
Anyway , I like the show , much better than the Worcester show. As John said , no cell phone booths or big boat displays , just stuff for striper fisherman.

I think its worth the ride if there are no other fishing shows in your area . I drive from southern Ct and its worth the 2.5 or hour ride . As everyone said its a good show , good deals , good people and it never seems crowded either . All fishing mostly saltwater and striper heavy . The talks are good Tony S always has something worth listening too and he may even have his mr wiggly for sale . LOL
If ya go Ill make sure I say Hi !

I'll be at the striper swipers raffle table for part of the day.
I'll have on a bright red striper swiper t-shirt and probably a name tag.
stop buy, say hello, and buy a raffle ticket for the kids club.
