It's none of your business

Why has society embraced this expression? I think if more people made it their business we would all be better off.(bet you're thinking no way) Take for example my pointing out to someone they were parked illegally, their response was "it's none of your business", I told someone else about what transpired and their response was "it really is none of your business". Don't attitudes like this lie at the heart of whats wrong with society? Honestly ask your self if your first thought when reading my exmple was indeed the same, did you think if I am not a police officer then it is none of my business? When and why have many of us begain to think this way? Do you think we really are better off with this type of thinking?
For those who fish the Canal doesn't it anger you to see boats fishing where there not suppossed to be fishing? or do you just ignore them because it's none of your business?
