deep jigging east of the bank
tried a little jigging out by wildcat the other day, 600 - 750' of water. didn't catch anything but was wondering who is down there. how deep do monkfish typically live and how big are they usually. what other critters like the deep water out there?

years ago in 400+, we got red fish, they were the color red and fish, not very big, but I don't know what their name is, but not the 'redfish' you get down south.
At 600 - 750 I hope you had an electric reel.

no electric reel yet, i'm gonna get one over the winter for a spring tile trip though. i've got a little spot to the north that gives up redfish by the coolerful in surprisingly shallow water. it's a good thing they taste good because they all seem to die on the trip up

i've caught cod/haddock from over 300' -400' that come up alive. don't know about survival rates after the trip. must depend on the critter. i've got a deflator but don't need to use it much
