Long Island this weekend

Never fished LI before.. going out with friends on their new boat (they dont have a clue when it comes to fishing)

Does anyone know how it is on the south side right now around fire island area?
Any input would be great so I know what direction to head them in & what gear to bring

If you're going out of FI Inlet, there's a lot of life just off the beach. Terns, gulls and gannets working the outside of the 2nd bar. Bait is mostly sandeels, but those gannets are on bigger stuff . Party boats are running east along the beach and doing pretty good diamond jigging. If you head west, there's been reports of bigger bait in the form of bunker and hickory shad .

Let's see. New boat, mid-November, 50 degree water and they don't have clue when it comes to fishing. I hope to hell they have a clue when it comes to boating or you have a recipe for disaster.

No boat, back in the suds.
