I think the scale of the disaster is pretty overwhelming, so the money we all sent is a drop in the bucket. Unfortunately, the country itself (Haiti) is so %$%$%$%$ing broke, they are S-O-L

Wait until AFTER they finish (re)building the presidential palace, retreat or whatever. Then they'll start rebuilding the country.

Remember that this was somewhat of a "third-world country" and everything will cost more than expected, so the repair costs will be insurmountable for the Haitian government.
If there is no economy, no tax $$, no salaries to being earned then they will have to rely on help from abroad.

I work with some Haitians and have asked the same question. As the rest of the world mostly knows, they confirm that 90% of that money can be kissed goodbye. Their government is so corrupt by their own admission that less than 10% of the people will see any kind of aid or rebuilding. All a waste of money.

Idea of sending FEMA's old Katrina trailers to Haiti draws backlash | NOLA.com

This is what really burns my arse.....So WHAT....give the people the info and give them the coice if they want them or not. the trailers are still probably 100 times better than how many are living now, right?

Simplify.......

Haiti may be the most corrupt country in this Hemisphere. And the poorest in the World. It needs a lot of work from the ground up.

He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.
Thomas Paine

Have you seen what New Orleans looks like lately?
Haiti was hopeless before their disaster.
