Weekend Plans

Who is getting out this weekend???

My plan is to dunk some live herring in Mass waters near the Canal but not in the Canal on Saturday, provided I finish my tanks...

Sunday I'm thinking Rhody, provided I finish my tanks...

RE:Weekend Plans

Hey John , it sounds like you should get to work and finish your tanks!!
Iwant to fish Sat (herring) Depending on my sisters schedule though , we may have to do mothers day on Sat instead of Sunday while she's still in town. I'll fish Sat or Sunday but of course on Sunday I can't take herring. I do hope to do the herring friday though. How's the tides look for about 6PM?

RE:Weekend Plans

Saltheart, get out!!! Do the regulations down your way prevent you from taking the herring on Saturday and using them on Sunday??? If not, I'd recommend fishing both days

Tides are high around 4:30-4:50pm Saturday around your way... Weather is back and forth between nice and rainy both Saturday and Sunday....

My tanks will be done, just one little leak left to hunt down...

#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& says you can have them on Sunday but you got to take them before midnight Sat. Legal to have on Sunday but not legal to take on Sunday. I might be able to keep a dozen or so alive and go very early sunday. Everything has to be determined after i find out how we are going to celebrate Mother's Day. probably see you down there.

RE:Weekend Plans

Hi, John. I may give it a go on Sunday, weather permitting. I doubt if I'll get anything, but a few hours on the beach will be therapeutic. There were some guys on the Ogunquit River last weekend, but they were just drowning worms. I may stick one rod in the spike and plug with another. Friday of Memorial Day weekend I'll really begin to fish hard.

MartyK, while that one rod is in the spike, think bucktail jids and teasers for the other.... Good Luck on the Maine front...

Hi John. Being an inexperienced plugger with a limited supply of gear, your advice is appreciated. I was thinking about a bucktail jig with either a grub or rubber worm attached. What's the retrieval speed? The bucktails I have are 2oz. Thanks.

RE:Weekend Plans

MartyK, use white bucktail jigs, 1/2 to 1 oz with a white or chartuese grub tail and a single 1/0 or 2/0 hook bucktail teaser dropped from 6 inches from a barrell swivel. Use the bucktail jig 24 inches from the same eye of the swivel. This will help give them impression of the bigger bucktail chasing the teaser. If you got to the article on West Wall Tactics by #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&, you'll see the rough details for the Wall will work up your way.

I'm going to try some local Quincy area schoolie trips next week. Rumor mill is putting small fish in local waters...I'll let you know. Good luck in Maine

RE:Weekend Plans

How about real early Saturday morning... back in Weymouth by 12:30- 1pm. I'm thinkin' cape and live herring, provided, of course, that you finish your tanks and I get line on my new Mag Elite.

Possible repeat on Sunday without the time constraints. Will touch base latah!!
