And on the way home I stopped at another white perch pond and ended up with this instead..........not on anybody's stocking list either.

hey?

what is the local name ?

shiner's we used to call them in the charles river area
same name used for the baitfish, when i was growing up

you could catch them on bread dough
(skinnier than that)........... by the bucket full

not sure if the species i am talkin about
is now protected though

because i was thinking it would
make a good cut bait for stripers

I remember catching a butt load of them in lake zoar when i was a kid. Was LMB fishing with my dad and we werent hitting any, so i switched to a small grub jig and caught them 1 after another. Fun fish.

I caught a nice one a few springs ago in a tidal estuary . They are supposed to be great eating , no?
