Mackeral Tide

Opinions on the best tides for Mackeral fishing. I'm voting for low.

I fished the mouth of the Cape Cod Canal from a boat on Saturday am and filled the livewell with 30 in about an hour and 20 min. It was high hide. Early morning any tide is good. Just follow the Portuguese Navy Fleet.

It hasn't mattered to me what tide. I've been also filling the boat in 30 minutes.

A portugese once told me to put a float and a leash on the first mackeral and release him. They go back with the school and you can follow them all day. When your done grab the One with the float.

Fly Rod, Are you in the Gloucester area or down in the bay??? Ive been searching around the east end but no go. Only macks Ive found have been off Plymouth and they have been sparse.
