You were sitting in line with the old man. He was in the old blue Land Rover 5 behind you. Absolutely amazing how fast the stickers go now. Fishing out on Race Point is going to be like trying to catch fish on the side of the SouthEast Expressway.......

And guys my way b**** when they have 5 other guys within 200 yards

There are no fish on Long Island after Memorial Day, none at all. They all go to Cape Cod and stay there until after Columbus Day. If you want to catch fish from June-October, Race Point is the place to be

None in Row Dylun either, and forget about that Ditch place---just jig-eating rocks, attack rats and rabid skunks

What are the stickers for to drive on the beach ?

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work

I got mine this morning as well.....2174. Must have been right behind some of you guys.

I wouldn't worry too much about crowds...it won't be any different than any other year. There's no difference in the number of stickers from year to year...still 3200 available. They sell out the stickers every year, they are just going faster this year.

I talked to the Ranger about it.....I guess a bunch of die hards got shut out last year when they showed up late May/early June as they always had, so the word went out that everybody better be early this year if they wanted a sticker. They sold over a thousand in the first few days, which people heard about, which caused another run, etc. Like a snowball rolling down a hill.

Anyway, point is there's still the same number of trucks with full year stickers, no matter how early they sell out. And you can always get 7 day stickers.

The thing to be worried about it price. With stickers going this fast, I'm sure the price will be doubled within the next year or two.

What does the 7 day sticker cost?

I go down to Dennis for a week or 2 each summer and would probably make the trip to the point.....

....Just a few more casts!

actually I think its been about four or five years now that they have actually SOLD OUT....and every year it is sooner and sooner.....and its only been a few years that they have had the weekpasses available....If you ask me I say there are bigger crowds every year!

Course I still think back 15 and 20 years ago when I was younger....and you practically had the whole beach to yourself!!!!

oh...welll.....

The days when you needed binoculars to see the next vehicle. Now it is like going to the beach in a mall parking lot. That was also when we could still have fresh piping plover for dinner.....Fish all night, sleep all day.

I've been going to Duxbury for over 15 years. With the way they keep the crossovers closed adn no overnight fishing on the beach side, it just wasn't worth the $200+ to maybe get to park on the ledge.

I'd do day stickers if they had them but it's a long way to go for so little access.

What's the deal with Race Point? How much are the week passes and when do you have to get them?

inquiring minds (and fishermen) want to know!

Crap I went for mine today and failed the ins. I have a 31" tire for a spare and the tires on the truck are 32" I for got about this little thing. I am going to the junk yard tomorrow to get another rim and tire. I had new tires put on and forgot to save one of the others. And 32" don't fit in the back very well so I kept the 31 for the spare. I will get a 32 spare just for the beach now. I hope I cn get there before they are all gone. and this really does look like my truck

for a couple years we had 35"s on the pick up and a 33" spare.....and got away with it (truth is the probably didnt even notice) I am a little shocked though because they seem to be very lenient this year....

Maybe they just didn't like me But that has always been my luck. Ten people could go thur with 33 on one side and go cart wheels on the other and get there stickers. Then I will come thur and not have a air gauge that went to 5 pounds and get turmed away. The air gauge thing really did happen to me the first year. Mine only went to 7, So I had to go to nelsons and buy one that went to 5 for $10 and it was junk. Got the tire and all set but no time to go today. Well I am going to try to get there tomorrow.
I sure hope to get one, but feel they will all be gone.

You'll be ok if you go tomorrow, but anyone trying on the weekend is sunk.

By the way, given this is pretty much a P'town fishing thread at this point, can anyone confirm for sure whether or not Nelson's was sold? I pulled in there when I got my sticker to check things out, but there was on one to be seen. The "For Sale" sign that's been up for a year was still there, for whatever that's worth.

On the phone with parents who are down there right now. Guy just came in to camp ground and said less than 400 stickers left. Thay said that the story with Nelson's goes like this:
Apparently the sale did not go through. They are going to run both the B&T shop and the Bike shop as usual through this summer. This of course could all change if the fish never come up here...............

Blitz,

Here's what I heard from a very reliable source. Emilio has retired and headed south. Someone that worked in the shop (I want to say Gary but I could be wrong) has expressed interest in running the shop. According to my source, it will be up to someone that has purchased the land/buildings.

The person I spoke with said there is interest in building some more condos like the ones going up accross from nelsons but feels that the fishing shop will win out in the end.

I hope it stays.......always nice to have a little shop there to jump in and score bait before heading out to the beach!

As long as your tires and rope are "up to code", you should be all set.

If you go to google and type in "cape cod national sea shore", then go to the oversand permit area and look at required safety equipment it will tell you everything you need.

Good luck.

Bob's right. A new neighbor bought the adjoining property next to Nelson's and would not allow Nelson's to run their horse rides/tours through their land. Hence, the horse part of the business died. The owner, Emilio, wanted to move south and had the place up for sale. Story has it a female, a "resident" of PTown should we say, purchased the business. A man who worked with the Emilio has been given a chance to run the Bait & tackle part of the business for this year and if all goes well may purchase the fishing aspect of it. If he doesn't and it fails, condos will be built.

Unhappy

A couple of friends and I went down to The Race yesterday,
(Friday) and they got their stickers, I already had mine. We left
there about 2:00 and there were about 200 stickers left. They
will be gone today. You snooze, you lose.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!
