Flush mounting... - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

I am looking for a way to flush mount some electronics in the cousole which currently has a cut-out. I have been looking for a fiberglass gelcoated white panel (or perhaps a thin sheet of that solid surface material) to mount all this to and mate up to the console cavity. Does anyone have any thoughs on where I could find something like this?

Sandman, check out Home Depot. They sell 1/8" fiberglass gelcoated sheets (4'x8') for bathroom surrounds there. My buddy found a sheet that was damaged and they practically gave it to him. Might work out for you. Good Luck.

You can also get asheet from Ocean State Fiberglass though it will cost you more than his suggestion

. You can also look up retailers of starboard but that will be $$

I saw some starboard at the local marine supply store last weekend. I know its a bit of a drive for you though...

I have heard its pretty expensive too,. I did not check the $$.

That starboard stuff is pretty cool. I was thinking of building a tackle locker for under the rocket launcher with that stuff.

I was talking to one of the dealers about it and they use that to flush mount as well...it is strong, looks good, you can screw into it and works well in salt water.

Sandman:

A friend of mine witha 25' proline used a piece of starboard to cover over the box which held his electronics, then he flush mounted his radar, GPS/FF and VHF.
I have not seen it yet, but it sounds nice and neat with all the wires behind. Great idea.

You've got more projects going on than I do....
I was hoping to finish my new hydraulic steering this weekend, but of course the weather is gonna be crappy !

Any progress on the grinder?

more projects then time to do them...I want to go fishin!
(at the moment my yard looks one of Sadams' homes...rubble and large holes. Re-landscaping the place.

re: grinder: I just got my motor and the 30:1 reduction is being shipped. (ebay save me some coin on these) I may put this project aside until the boat gets in the water and I have a few bass in the box. I still will need some couplings...once I get all the parts I will build a power grinding station. Thanks for those tips and catalog links!
