one for one against woodchucks
This morning the wife and I were sitting on the deck when across the lawn comes the bigger of the two chucks living in the yard somewhere. It walks up to fence gate and nudges where the fencing rest against the bottom cross piece of wood. I have the fencing stapled to the wood around the gate on both sides and across the top, but not across the bottom. But I did leave the end pieces so they point out towards anything that might try to squeeze in between.
Thats just what the woodchuck does though. Walks up to the gate, pushes it head in between the wood and the bottom of the fence. Make an opening wide enough to push his shoulder through and then rolls his body over the piece of wood and into the garden.
I look at the wife and said I hope this doesn't bother you, but went and retrieved the very nice pump pellet rifle I have and shot the friekin thing five times before it died.
She asked me never to shoot anything in the past but thats before animals started eating her hard work.

I got a graden going this year over at the Community Gardens. I found the little bastards were starting to nibble on my plants. A guy there turned me on to Coyote Urine.....stuff stinks like Chit, but I haven't had a groundhog in there since I put it up on the fence posts.
Put it in little pill bottles with a cotton ball stuffed inside...make sure there are a couple of holes in there to let the Aroma out....works Pissah...pun intended

I dont have a problem with yard pigs... my little demon has big floppy ears and wiggles his nose.... after eating all the pansies in the front.... the cunning little beast dug a passage way under the fence and commenced eating the herb garden... this critter seems to have a appetite for dill....It only sampled the basil and sage, but ate all the dill ...stalks and all...if it goes under the fence tonight I have a surprise waiting for it...
I'll not get into the chipmunk wars being waged in the strawberry patch....

was surprised this Morning
finding a dead Chipmunk laying on the walk
freshly killed by the Maine Coon Cat earlier today.
he surely hasn't learned that much
but i'm SO glad he graduated
from just catching (killing)the mice.

You can lay down a defensive barrier using any canine urine.
The only problems would be getting the dog to go where you want, and getting a dog if you don't have one!
Dog feces has the same effect, but the prospect of dodging doggy land-mines can be a little daunting.
Heck, you could even relieve youself in the yard, but somehow I don't think the neighbors would appreciate you garden nuisance knowkedge as much as we would.

I haven't seen a rabbit in my yard since we got our dogs last year. I wonder if the dog urine is the reason?

I tried dog poop but it did't work. Dog pee is easy to get. My dog will let you stick a cup under her when she goes anytime. Great for doing test for bladder infections

I've taken out four so far this year with the pellet rifle. A whole family. My wife was also always against me shooting anything in the yard until this year.
I'm like Carl Spackler in Caddy Shack. I've removed the screen in one window. They never see it coming.

I follow them to their stinking little burrows, stick a hose in there and when they come up for air I El Kabong them with a shovel. Works every time.

Got another in the trap last night. Not pushing too hard to get them anymnore because I have caught so many. I just grab some pumpkin leaves and put them in the trap up against the barn. Dog lets me know when something is in the trap.

Anytime Bill, don't need them for anything else, no pumpkins growing. I can put some in the truck and you can pick them up at Auto Tec on the Abington/Whitman line.
