striper candy
Ark Bait Company is planning to start bringing in fresh pogies (caught that day!). They will be iced and shipped in a refrigerated trailer, and will arrive on Monday nights. They will be sold by the tote, perfect for the commercial season and all chunkers . Customers will have to go and meet the truck when it arrives, could be any time at night or early morning. Call to show interest and get more details 1-508- 678-4161

Ark Bait.... same company behind the pogie boats that wiped out all the pogies locally two years ago.... Might as well sell my pogie net because they eliminated the resource for all the others up here.... Efff them.

Is it just me or does it seem disrespectful to herring to start calling bunker "striper candy"?

True story.
Several years ago I was talking to a neighbor and some guy with him that I had never met. We got to talking about fishing and how great the striper fishing in the state was. The stranger says "yea, you can even catch big bass right out here" motioning to the Sakonnet basin in front of us.
I remark (half in jest) "they're no bass out there, the pogie boats already killed 'em all!".
The guy worked for Arc Bait

Hey, it's a bargain!!!!
They (Arc) go out, haul entire schools of pogies from local fishing grounds, turn around and sell it back to the locals that can't find any to catch because they were all fished out by Arc.
Yeah, take my wallet and sell it back to me, and tell me that it's a bagain.
