Large boat off SoCo?
Anyone see that huge boat off SoCo last night? Thought it was a cruise ship at first, but the lights I could see looked like maybe some sort of processing ship. Whatever it was, it was pretty big and it was anchored up pretty close to shore.

It was out there on Friday night too. Seemed to be anchored up pretty close to the beach.

It is a NOAA boat that is mapping the bottom of Long Island Sound. Saturday night it was anchored off of Quonochuntaug, RI.

Huh, that's cool. It was working the water back and forth from Misquamicut to East Beach today. Tried to get a picture, but it was just a hair too far out.

Sparfish beat me to it- it's the Thomas Jefferson. You can track the movements of all the NOAA boats online.
