perhaps
the electrical supply to the stadium is less damaged
than the power feeds to surrounding towns
not defending them
just saying, there might be a good reason
downed trees may have derailed many lines elsewhere

Bull#^&#^&#^&#^& !
Ma. politics at it's best !
There are 100s of other places of business in Foxboro, Plainville, Walpole, & Wrentham up & down rt 1 with little trees and still without power.
As far as I know Wrentham outlets has no power and there is a lot more business there than at Patriot place.

Wrong !
The only feed is from Kraft's wallet to some state hack's pocket !
Coupe Deval probable had planned on making it to the game thursday.
I can assure you from plowing the state roads during storms on game days.
They made sure as hell we had the roads good & plowed so the govenor had no problem arriving to & from the game !

There was a segment on this with the news. They have two trunks (anyone dealing in large infrastructure has redundancy in their redundancy) - one from Wrentham, one from Foxboro. The Wrentham one is lit.
I am also willing to bet that their lines are well built subsurface lines, encased in 3 layers of protection to withstand the harshest elements and odd Raider Fans.
I believe that RT1 has fiber buried underneath so there is a decent chance that the power is underground as well.
In a nutshell, it boils down to costs. When a larger commercial entity builds a new facility, they put as much securely underground as possible. Towns and utilities? Nope. It costs 3-5 times as much IIRC to go underground than up on poles. So when Kraft drops 150 million on a stadium, 500K to put utilities hardened underground is a safe investment. Your town however can't afford to do that (though many newer home developments do).

"The stadium and its surrounding area were back in service because one of the substations that serves them, in the adjacent town of Wrentham, was not as badly damaged as the other one in Foxborough, Barry said.
The Patriots paid for expansion of the Wrentham substation after a power outage just before halftime of their 20-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 1996 AFC championship game, said James Nolan, senior vice president of operations, administration and finance for the stadium and the Patriots."

There are parts of St Maartin that are still effed up.
On the southwest side of the island there's condos that have never been repaired. Other than the concrete/rebar structure, everything is gone. It all blew away.

They started annpouncing Yesterday or Monday that the game against the Giants was on. My guess is with millions on the line, they were going to get power even if they had to pay contractors themselves to restore the lines in a B line right to the stadium. The double redundant set up makes perfect sense for such a large dollar revenue on the line just 20 days a year.
Is it fair? No , not if other resources were monopolized to get them going but yes if its just a better infrastructure that was built in at the time the new stadium was constructed.
I just got power myself after 78 hours out. Happy to see it!

Unfortunately for the customers these companies are not utilities any more, they are publicly traded corporations which means that he stock holder takes Precedent over the consumer. Once the union lost the no contractor language, they dwindled the work force to make the company more profitable. The result is the customer suffer while they wait for out Of state contractors to come from all over the country. These are the very things we will strike stop.
