Can someone explain to me....

Why they closed off the access road to the Scusset Beach Campground?

I know they closed some areas for the storm on Sunday, but I TRIED to get there last night and saw the barricade at the rotary.

There must have been some kind of freak wind damage there to merit closing it off this long. Maybe some of those HUGE trees and the HIGH POWER lines must have gotten blown down, along with all the buildings..... otherwise they are just a bunch of PUSSIES!!!!!

Now I can understand if there was damage to the CAMPGROUND, but where I (and many of you) was heading is devoid of TREES and structures.
I guess if you don't pay you have no say!

The unofficial word I got was no electricity. I know that the Corps of Engineers rest room at the rest area behind Friendly's was without power as of 7 PM last night, along with most of the houses around it. But, it was open as it had running water for the sinks and toilets.

However, why they had to close the parking lots because of no power is a good question. Look, we all know that DCR does what they want down there and at other DCR properties, without very much accountability to anyone. There is no damage down there, wind or otherwise. Any trees, limbs, branches, whatever that fell were cleaned up by Tuesday. I rode my bike through the place and it was perfectly clean, everywhere.
