That would be the casting weight that doesn't hook the sand but sure as bleep hooks the grass cast.

Looks like a Zziplex with an English slung Abu. Thought it may be a Conoflex but its missing the red markings of the Concolfex. Note that the rod is in the 13-14foot length. I had a friend in Hatteras that could toss 5 oz on his Zziplex in the 700-750 foot range. With a 2 oz. stingsilver he was hell!!!

I think that's the "I can't believe I didn't break my neck cast!"

Sometimes at the canal when the tide is up you catch those damned bushes behind you. The result is something similar to the video.

12 pack cast. I never really got the whole casting competition thing. Has nothing to do with fishing unless your catching fish with hookless weights.

Casting competitions have nothing to do with fishing like home run derbies have nothing to do with baseball. Bunch of folks thumping chests and seeing who has the best swing since it's mainly body motion (and control). Its fun to do once but if you look, the US leader in most categories was one person, Tommy Farmer. No one else cared enough to continue competing with him. Instead we all went fishing...

In the end its just a testosterone release lacking water...

I did exactly that with a conventional set up - instant waste of $50 worth of braid. The guy next to me was laughing so hard, I thought he was going to choke. I suppose I would have had the same chuckle if it weren't me.

That's funny. Must happen a lot. Nobody paid much attention to him. One guy had his own troubles with a back-lash.

Apropos of nothing. I wonder if these so called casting tournaments are akin to slow pitch softball beer leagues. Maybe the guy had already dug halfway into his 30 pack of naty lights.

May fortune favor the foolish....
