With 20 something subs it wouldnt surprise me that there aren't quite a few tagging our ships right now.
I think the key here is where and which direction these little roman candle incidents happen. This bs is going to kill oil. I got 150 gal today it's $537
Will hold me to spring I believe. Going to have to at that price. Ridiculous. O'bama's rebates warmed up my house for cheap money

20 subs?
They have three Kilos, 2 may even be able to go to sea. And when one of them flushes a head, we probably know what they ate for dinner the night before. Forget about their 4 knt midget subs. They're more likely to get run over by a tanker, or a dhow.
Boghammers, speedboats, shore based Anti-Ship cruisemissiles, more boghammres, and a ton of speed boats, did I mention speedboats?
Iran would be slicing their own throat economically. They can only profit from oil sales and for all practical purposes, they can only sell oil through the straight.

I read somewhere this week they had 23 or 26 subs. This was in an article talking about our big air craft carrier in the area.

I think I'd wager the 5th Fleet over the Iranian Navy any day of the week.
Yes, they'll taunt and make things difficult. But at the end of the day they know there's a spanking awaiting them if they go too far.

I feel sorry for the poor Iranian crew who's ordered to fire on an American ship.

I'd wager that few of them are Islamists.
Headlines would probably read, in strange occurrence all Iranian ships in a 60 mile radius mysteriously vanish along with underground nuclear facility. Iranian officials cite navigational errors, US reports weather anomaly.

Why are people so concerned about there subs, they are the 1990 vintage or less. No match for us. Yes they may block the channel but it would be for a very short time , one or two days and we would clear the debris after sinking them.

They have 3 subs that are of questionable capability today. They do have another 20 midget subs. Their subs are not their strong suit.
They hardly have a surface fleet in the traditional sense. But they do have a lot of small boats to swarm and overwhelm ships. Plenty of anti-ship missiles.
It would also take much more than a carrier over there. While US forces certainly outclass them in the sky there is a numbers and distance game that is in their "home court" favor. 40 air combat capable jets on a carrier today are not the 60 often longer range combat capable jets of just 10-12 years ago.
All speculation on my part (clearly) ut not unreasonable.
