Question Went to Hull yesterday. What were they fishing for ?

There was a 25-30 foot "lobster" type boat dragging what appeared to be a net, right off Nantasket beach. I was wondering what that boat might be "fishing" for. Just anything that it catches in its net ? It was going back and forth just outside of the "breaker" line. Any educated guesses ?

I thought they might have been shell fishing, but wondered how the net could dislodge clams (sea clams ??) from the bottom. Thanks for the reply. Care to elaborate ?

Dredging sea clams similar to scalloping. I have not done it myself, I get my clams the old fashioned way - hit the beach after a good storm and start loading up 5 gallon buckets

The house I worked at in Hull today had a nice deck on it, the guy kept hearing someone knock on the door. Every time he looked out of the door he saw a sea clam on the deck. Told me the seagulls are stealing them from the dredger out front, and keep dropping them everywhere. Sure enough I went out to my truck and there was one on the sidewalk...
