Question Squid

Caught my first decent fish of the season last night in the local river. She inhaled a large whole mackerel that I was twitching. Hook was pretty deep so she will be dinner tonight. Fish had one large whole freshly eaten squid in the stomach. This morning when jigging up some more macs the guy next to me snagged another large squid on his sabiki. I am thinking I may target squid tonight after dark.

Question- can you live-line a squid? If so how do you hook it?

One hook right through the mantle (the point at the end of the body). If done quick they'll swim around for a decent while. They don't transport well though, if you're thinking about bringing them to where I think you are .

I'd be eating them if I was catching them....

I would not try to transport them and would want to eat most. Can you get out for an hour to join/teach me how to catch them. Kev or Kev?

I Will be hitting the slack tide at the other place, looking to catch the escort that followed yesterdays fish. Why are the escorts always a foot longer?

I will be fishing at the other other place tonight with O. Maybe squidding afterwards? I'm sure I have a couple jigs lying around if you have a spare light rod.

Kevin Jackson, stop speaking in code and catching my squid. What are you up to this weekend. Might try to hook up with Rat and Scott Kershaw, so we might be in your neck of the woods.
