From this month's LNM

There are a load of warnings but I only copied a few that you MA guys might need to know. Lots of areas have severe shoaling "again"...

MA-MASSACHUSETTS BAY (REVISED 5/13) (Hmmm… nice structure?)
The Coast Guard has confirmed that there is a sunken vessel in the Stellwagen Bank Area, in position 42-22-48.20N 070-23-13.98W in 90 feet of water. Fishing vessels are requested to transit this area with extreme caution.

MA-BOSTON HARBOR
The Coast Guard is soliciting public comment on the continued applicability of, or the need to amend an existing regulation; 33 CFR 165.120, Safety Zone: Chelsea River, Boston Inner Harbor, Boston, MA. Comments and related material must be received by the Coast Guard on or before May 31, 2013. This advance notice of proposed rulemaking is published in 6782-6783 Federal Register/Vol. 78, No. 21/Thursday January 31, 2013. http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013...2013-02080.pdf

MA-BOSTON HARBOR (this one was reported last year too)
The Coast Guard has received reports of periodic GPS reception problems occurring east of Boston Harbor in the vicinity of Boston Lighted Whistle Buoy B. Vessels experiencing this problem have witnessed reception problems on single and multiple GPS units. A low level interference source has been detected on the L1 GPS frequency (1575.42 Mhz) in the vicinity of Boston Harbor. Mariners experiencing reception issues on their GPS receivers are requested to contact the Coast Guard Navigation Center at (703) 313-5900 or via email at tis-pf-nisws@uscg.mil with the model of the affected unit, the duration of the reception issue, and the position the interference was first noticed and when the problem was corrected. Mariners are urged to use caution while transiting the area.

MA-MARTHA’S VINEYARD/NANTUCKET, MUSKEGET CHANNEL
Recent soundings by Coast Guard vessels in the vicinity of the southern entrance to Muskeget Channel show observed water depths that are significantly shallower than charted depths. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will confirm these soundings during its next regularly scheduled survey of Muskeget Channel. Mariners are urged to consider these observed depths and use particular caution when navigating in the vicinity of the southern entrance to Muskeget Channel.

MA-MARSHFIELD (REVISED 15/13)
Green Harbor Entrance channel has endured multiple storms and has sustained significant shoaling since 2011. Mariners should use extreme caution while transiting the Green Harbor Entrance Channel. The 100 foot channel width has been drastically reduced by recent storms. Mariners are strongly encouraged to AVOID transiting this area 2 hours before Low tide and 2 hours after Low tide. Astronomically Low or Flood tides will have even a greater effect in this area. Maintenance Dredging of the Channel is planned for Late May of 2013.

MA – PAMET HARBOR, TRURO – SEVERE SHOALING
Severe shoaling has been detected at the entrance to Pamet Harbor, Truro, MA, including shoaling within the entrance channel. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the entrance to Pamet Harbor. Additionally, mariners should avoid this area at low tide, and attempt to navigate the Pamet Harbor entrance channel only within three hours before or after high tide.

Things done at the last possible minute are done with the greatest possible information. Procrastination is, therefore, the most efficient means of doing things.
