First Canal Trip of the season

Didn't like the looks of the weather Friday night so instead of RI , we headed to the canal for the first time. Fished the last 2.5 hours of the east running and slack abd one hour of the west running. Got 2 fish. One 30 " , one 22 LB. Jigging with 2 and 3 OZ jigs and large black Curltails from Newport Lures. Went back again on Sat night and got the skunk. Also had a hit Friday on a 5 inch shad body on a shad jig head (2 OZ) but lost it in about 10 seconds. Hated to skip a weekend of the herring but glad we went.

RE:First Canal Trip of the season

Thanks guys. Yep a 22 lb fish in the canal can really pull. Felt great. Its unlikely I'll make it this week but If I'm going over the weekend , I'll email you John. Traffic is tough now do to only one open lane on the Bourne bridge. Might not be bad coming down from the north but it was tough coming in by 495.

RE:First Canal Trip of the season

JOhnM, pulled this off the web from smartroute.com

<blockquote><hr>
Bridge repair from 4/18/2000 to 5/25/2000, daily between 12:00 am and 11:59 pm on Bourne Bridge. Slow traffic; Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction. A 24-hour-a-day restriction until Memorial Day weekend.
<hr></blockquote>

Note: The Bourne will be on again off again for a while and the Sagamore is next beginning in the fall.
