Can our roads get any worse??

Condition-wise, that is.
Where are the road repair crews that should be fixing those gawd-awful potholes on virtually every road in the state.

Every road EXCEPT the ones that the political hacks live on.

There are quite a few doozies out there that haven't been touched at all, and they are real car wreckers. I came across one on Saturday on Rte 128 that caused the front right side of my truck to drop a good 6 inches.

I could see if it were a rarity, but it's so common-place that it's insulting.

Oh well, I guess we can chaulk it up as another "great job" done by our glorious governor.

I am a legend in my own mind!

Sorry, I took "shovel ready" as a dig at the stimulus bill.

Hard winter takes a toll on the roads, this challenge is nothing new. Towns will be putting out a lot of patch in the coming weeks. FWIW,if you don't tailgate, avoiding potholes may become easier for the experienced driver.

i go on the individual town web site
and find the road repair department
and send them specific places via email where these
huge pot holes Are

.\ In fact i believe there's an APP
now for targeting them and relaying the coordinates

I was in Toronto on a business trip last week. Driving to hotel, hit a pot hole and blew out rental car tire. Next block was a car pulled over changing flat. Next morning as I was going to a meeting there was a crew patching it up.

Define State Road....routes that go through a town are still the responsibility of the town to fix.

https://malegislature.gov/Laws/Gener...ter84/Section1

"Section 1. Highways and town ways, including railroad crossings at grade with such highways and town ways, shall be kept in repair at the expense of the town in which they are situated,"

Rte 3, your town....rte 90, 93, 95 are part of the interstate system and maintained by the state. What kind of shape are they in? I drive 95 everyday and other than the contruction going on in Amesbury...the roads are in great shape.

RT. 3 is NOT my towns respobsibilty (RT. 3A yes, but not RT. 3) RT. 3 north is a mess. Have to drive in middle lane from Hingham/Rockland north to Braintree, disaster to the left and right.

It's a tough task keeping up but I wouldn't say the roads are in great shape down by me.

I did drive up to Portsmouth, NH this weekend and yes, 95 north of RT 1 was in great shape.

driving on a town road and a highway are two completely different things. Town roads have a much lower speed rrate (although in some that is questionable) where the highways are regulated with (in some cases) a minimum and maximum limit.

Bottom line: It's a heck of a lot easier to avoid a pothole at 35 mph than 65 mph.

"It's been a tough winter" is an excuse, a lame one at that.
We've had colder and snowier winters and the only constant is that the roads get torn up as a result of overly aggressive plowing. When you try plowing any road with barely a measurable snowfall you are basically grinding the asphalt!

Once the plows have done their "job" any divots they created will expand into teeth-rattling craters in no time.

Isn't there someone in the transportation dept. that should be aware of and responsible for these repairs? Or is that another job that we motorists must do for the state?

I am a legend in my own mind!

Rte 138 runs through Easton, the town does not maintain it. Rte 106 runs through Easton as does rte 123,the town maintains both...trust me,they have it figured out.

The same whiners that complain about plows tearing up roads would typically be whining about the lack of said plows in the event of a dusting.Make no mistake, the freeze/thaw cycle is ultimately at the top of the list for cracking and potholes. I am quite sure most communities have a number which could be called to fix a serious pothole. Right now an effort is being made to sweep the streets for those who complain about all the sand being applied on the streets to keep them safe. But somewhere there is a clown wondering why their street is done last...
