Gear ?'s
Anyone own a Okuma Solaris rod? I looked at one today, and they look great, but seemed a little heavy. I also looked at a Tsunami rod, seemed nice, but I have never heard of it before. The guy at #^^^^&'s said that it was a new company. I'm leaning toward the Tica, because I have heard great things about them. Any comments from someone who has either one would be appreciated. I already have some bait rigs, this one would be primarily for pluggin. Reel suggestion? Rod will be 9'-10'

I haven't seen the Okuma but the Tica looked nice when I saw it at Don's shop and the Daiwa Sealine hasd a great rep. Most other garden variety ones are crap...

I bought the 10' Tica from Mike CC this spring and I love it....
It was a choice between that and the Sealine, though he also showed me the Tsunami....
I use it for both plugging and chunking....actually, I bought it for chunking, but have been using it more for pluggin..

check out a lamiglass if you don't mind spending the cash. I have a XRAH 11' ron arra surf edition with 6" taken off the tip-awesome rod!! great for throwing plugs, metal, and can sling an eel with authoritah. I have a fin nor ahab 12 taped on, which is a solid reliable reel, but is a little heavy-my old lady's shimano actually balances it out a little better
are you a c-5 crew dog?
I crewed fighters for 12 years

Is it good, or is it Sofa King good?

If he's talking Ticas & Okumas, I think an Arra is a little pricey. They are the cat's nuts along with a lot of other rods (I have a XRA1205 I built) but that's a big $tretch from the Tica to the Arra. Splitting the difference could get you into a 1088 Batson (my all around stick) or Patriot custom blank. A step up in coin would be the AllStars, then the Lamis/Loomis/Yadayadayada
That was my guess too...
