Memories with the kids
Just got caught in those storms that developed out of nowhere over plymouth harbor. We waited for one to go by to the north and the radar was clear after that. launched and made the long idle to the no wake buoy and looked back to check the skys one more time. Just a couple of black clouds but nothing that concerned me.
powered up and made the run out to the point of the sand spit and looked back to check and wholly #^&#^&#^&#^&! Crazy black sky and couldn't see plymouth waterfront through the line of rain coming and then, snap, bang! lightning and instant thunder! Lightning ever 30 seconds all around us. Evaluated it's direction and decided I couldn't out run it around the point so had no choice to tun back into it. The rain was quarter sized with hail mixed in so had to go slow. At the peak of the rain fall, we had a few wind gusts that seemed to be like 60 mph.
I headed for the closest place we could get off the boat which was Brewers Marina but by the time we got there, it was over. Blue skies and beautiful. Over as quick as it started. Watching the radar history, the storm just developed out of nowhere over plymouth and roared down the coast due south. Looks like it explode over Barnstable.
Had my two kids with me and some of their neighborhood friends. One of them said, "at least we'll never forget this ride". I was thinking, don't tell your mother…Crazy.

Happened to my partner Chris and I this past Spring. Clear and calm when we left the dock with nothing on the radar. By the time we got to Conimicut Light (15 minutes) all hell broke loose including rain, lightening, thunder, hail, and 40 knt winds. Just when balls to the wall and headed up river to Providence for shelter. Good thing I was in a Sea Hunt!

Miss those times with my boys, I haven't been able to get one out on the boat in two seasons. Took an engineer and his two boys out Monday and what a hoot, they had an absolute ball and it took me back to when my boys were that age. The smiles on their faces made for one happy client. Hopefully another season won't go by without one of them making time.
