peepers!

My first hearing of the peeps is tonight, this is a hopeful sign that warmer weather is coming our way and here to say the long bitter cold snap is gone till November.

Bring it on!

Live bait sharp hooks and timing is all you need

I heard 2 lowly peepers last week just outside Wistah. Poor buggers could only talk to themselves

Been hearing them for at least a week down here. I felt sorry for them when everything was still covered in two feet of snow.

Just missed one hopping across the street near home. First time this year. Heard a mess of 'em on the way down to Trenton along Rt. 1 this afternoon. One of those "wetlands" in Jersey.

Nothing up here in NWCT. And I live across the street from a swamp.
Still a lot of snow on the ground here.

Were singing big time behind a local pond I fished today, and caught my first 2 LM of the year. They are definitely a sign it's time to start fishing.

Started hearing the wood frogs early last week. Then the peepers joined them on Friday night. Yesterday I started hearing the occasional bull frog in the neighbors pond.

They were loud as I have ever heard last night at a vernal pool last nite. I almost did a recording. Sounded like 1000's of the little buggers in a pool 20' by 20'. I guess they are as happy as I about winter being over.

it's very cool when you can get between two groups
when they call to one another a reverberation happens
(ping/pong match) and it will vibrate you to your core....

you just have to have the patience to interrupt them
then sit down slowly -motionless with no ground penetration noise allowed
and they'll eventually get back up to full chorus
that's when it gets really good
