Fishing advise for the Cape this weekend (24, 25 & 26th) - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

My girlfriend and I got out twice to the cape with the 22' Make Center Console. Once in late May and the other mid june. Launched from Sesuit harbor and stayed in the bay. Got some schoolies but nothing else. Went to Billingsgate, Brewster Flats and part way to Barnstable harbor. We wanted to go to race point where we were told lots of action but since it was out first time out we wanted to stay somewhat close for safety.

We are headed back this coming weekend, july 24, 25 & 26 for another go at it. Would like to try the south side of the cape at least a time or two. Not sure launch sites or spots to go without checking with the local bait shops.

We don't really care if it's stripers, blues, toutog, fluke/flounder or ??

Can anyone recommend launch sites and possible fishing spots and fishing advise/techniques we might try. What we really would like to do would be to either tag along another boater or have someone who knows where to go and fishing techniques we would be more than happy to have them join us. What should we be shooting for this time of year ?

Did get a 34" Striper in the Hudson in the Spring but had to release it.
law reads 18-28 and over 40" (smit)

Try the ramp down from Scorton Creek then go up inside. You will have fun. Only a few locals an some nice fish there. most of the Comms are trying to fish where the wind is easy.

Since we are familiar with the launch as Sesuit harbor would you recommend us launching there and then heading west along the bay shore till we get to the Scorton river inlet or trailing the 22' mako to the launch you speak off. Do you know what they are catching in Scorton Creek ?

I used to use the Child's river launch in Falmouth. Should be fine for your 22.

Vineyard sound has always been a great place to fish. There are several ledges/shoals that hold fish. Just troll up and down them for blues and bass. Drift into deeper water off the ledges to jig for fluke.

FYI on Scorton - this is a dirt ramp, the "channel" is not marked, and the bar in front is nasty and has shifted from where most GPS's say it is.
The creek itself is better suited for a yak or skiff than a 22 footer, if you don't know the area, you're going to have problems.

Well I'm no expert with recent particulars in and around the south side so take my advice with a grain of salt. It's been several years (seems like many more) since I launched in the area. However, you are taking your lady and you are looking for advice for a 3 day weekend. The Child's was always a great place to leave the truck and trailer overnight. Never had a problem there having left the truck/trailer there for a week at times. Yes, you are capt'n a CC, but there are plenty of romantic B&B's in Edgartown or Oak Bluffs or on the south side itself for an overnight that your lady might never forget. Whatever you choose, have a great weekend, tight lines and above all safety first. Enjoy!
