Be Careful!

It's looking like something bad just happened at Beavertail. Just got a text asking if I was OK, fire trucks everywhere. Hoping it's not what it looks like. When will people learn...

JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Crews in Jamestown are searching the water off of Beavertail State Park for a missing fisherman that was reported missing.

Police told The Providence Journal, the family of a Massachusetts man reported him missing when he did not return home when expected. Police also said the man’s car was found in the Beavertail parking lot.

Coast Guard personnel and police suspended the search Wednesday night but was expected to resume Thursday morning.

I imagine its what we fear. Seems like every year between Beavertail and PJ there is an accident. Lets hope for a good outcome. Even a PFD wouldn't help much down there when the surf is up.

Everything is better on the rocks.

It's pretty much confirmed. My buddy was told by his neighbor who is the deputy fire chief on the island. I'm guessing it was a sustenance fisherman who wasn't prepared. Sad, sad stuff.

The water outside has been crazy rough since Sunday - especially on the last two hours of the flood tide. Moon tides coupled with this never ending storm swell is a killer combination. I have not been able to safely fish on most of my perches when the tide is high so I've been hanging inside Narragansett Bay or going outside at lower water.

No matter which was this Joaquin decides to head, finally, we will probably get a really good groundswell from it.

So yeah, be careful this weekend.

We've had a groundswell in RI going on a week now. Crazy to think what it's going to look like in a few days.

That deep water swell is building too. Those big storms move loads of water around. Some spots out on the Vineyard aren't safe right now. Even the west side has some deep swells moving way over the rocks to the cliff walls

You are not kidding, I have gotten the snot beat out of me the last three nights. I would be lying if I said it wasn't fun though.

very sad.. Just don't understand with the swell and nasty surf we've had your decision on the spot to fish that night is Beavertail. Prob the most dangerous area to fish in RI.

Be smart, be careful.
