pogie-palooza

The Pogie bite in the harbor is the best I've ever seen it. Bait schools can be found everywhere, everyday, for a month now.
Phil and I have been doing some lazy weekend anchor'ups, tossing pogies into various rocks.
There is nothing like watching a pogie get whacked around.

Pogies are thick in Upper Narr Bay. From EG to South of Hope they are everywhere.

No boat, back in the suds.

Jay, They were in my SLIP this AM!!! I could have dip netted a live well full. Unfortunately I was meeting someone to go surf fishing. We fished way West in the surf for 3 hours and never got a bump so I'm thinking that either:

1) The big bio mass is staying off shore

2) They are all on the SWL

3) They haven't moved inshore yet.

We were fishing a spot that usually has Mullet at this time of year and there was NO bait at all in the wash

No boat, back in the suds.

Didn't go Mike. Got family stuff but they were in my marina yesterday morning. In between the slips.

No boat, back in the suds.

Huge bluefish have moved into the inner harbor. The pogies have nowhere to hide now. All you need to do is look for the latest fish oil slick to find the fish.

Pogie boat has been vacuuming them up in Salem the past two days....

Paul give me a call and let's fish soon. Long overdue anyway, and I know where some big bass are holding waiting to eat some pogies.

So, last night I'm sitting on porgies , snag and drop another, while snagging with another rod to fill the live well I gets one next to the boat, reach down wrap the leader around two fingers right hand to lift up the porgy, just as it breaks the surface , wham, a hell of a nice fish come up and sucks it up along with the snag, so now I've got a fish as green as they get thrashing like a hooked shark, grabs the leader with left hand to unwrap it from my fingers,,,, not!, lines so tight wouldn't budge, runs my left hand down the leader to try for a lower lip grab and hooks me self,,, that's when she broke loose and left me looking like one of those tied up cows at a rodeo... LOL

somethings wrong with me,,,, I luv this chit....

a little of the action on video:

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

BTW: that fish in 1st pic is my new PB. Largest since 2002, but we all know boat fish don't count so no one will see this!
