Ray thanks again for the 5 gallon bucket of crabs and never in my wildest dreams, did I expect my friend and i would go through them all; especially with only a single set of the anchor. To bad togfest wasn't yesterday, because it was unreal fishing, with the last 3 hours having the bigger girls move in. It was aggressive one fish every drop fishing for the entire day, with a couple nice 6 and 8 lbers rounding out my three fish limit, but I'm pretty sure I missed one much bigger. I just love Holloween tog time, it is just so good to catch the big move from the shallows up inside BB when they school up on the reefs outside.
Motoring out there were bunker rolling and jumping all over the place and tons of birds over feeding shoolies out by the mouth. It was hard not to ask my friend to put it in neutral for a drift, but we were both pumped to get on some tog. The hardest part of the day was trying to take a break to shed a few layers of clothing, since we were both dressed for the cold temps we had in the am.

oh yeah you did, got snotty out there quick.....we put in just before 7 and got out around 11, was a bithc pulling the anchor on the last drop.......we fed em' really good though, the Asians have started to soften up/molting...so if you didn't hook blacky, your bait was gone.
Maybe try again tomorrow? Wind is supposed to be gone?

It's hard to get to togzilla, when you have to weed through that many other agressive tog. I definitely think there were so many fish there, the competitive nature kicked in, you almost had to try not to hook up with a 20" fish the last two hours.
I dig catch a trigger fish as well, that was a first for me, I guess they like crabs too.

My will power is not that strong.....we hit em' for at least an hour before heading out to the tog spot. Most were 12" - 20"......but we did see a couple of much larger fish follow the lure to the boat,////.....the Tautog fishing was IN$ANE!!!....we blew through our crabs in no time. Awesome day out there...only one other boat.....<<Right day AND Right Ledge
this time>>

So I'm out on the ledge yesterday and who happens by???.....my good buddy GOOSE!....what a pleasant surprise! He must have known I was putting a clinic on because he kept his distance so I couldn't poke fun at em'... ,,,By him keeping his distance, he could tell me his fish were bigger, and wouldn't have to prove it....he's one of those guys who are just plain lucky cuz he sure don't know what he's doing... ..........(NICE new ride by the way!!!)
Because of other recent outings and the numbers being caught, I was curious so I kept track of each fish I caught...and so that others aren't easily disappointed, I landed 76 Tautog with ONLY 5 of them being keepers. (I'm not one to post numbers or sizes, but so anyone togging doesn't get discouraged, there are a LOT of fish out there!..you may just need to go through a LOT of shorts before you get your whitey-bulgerz)
Lots of birds working out front too.....4" to adult size bunker getting harassed by predators.....lots of fun on light gear. Milo put on his own show with the Bass as well...was killing em' on his Kastmaster (which mirrored the big-peanuts getting chased everywhere).
It was a great day all in all.......back at the ramp reality struck. A much larger boat was pulling out for the last time. We exchanged short words as I could tell he really didn't want to talk much.....pulling your boat on that last day of the season is kind of like going to a wake (poor, simile I know).....hoping for at least a couple more myself.
Tight Lines....it ain't over yet!

Goose called me to go out Saturday, but unfortunately I had made a commitment to head into Sommerville to visit with the girlfriends 89 year old mom and take her out to lunch. I hope he isn't done for the year, still waiting for a ride in the new rig (project).

Should be a great day out there tomorrow, light winds and warming up close to 60, the sort of day I miss having a center console in the driveway I could be hooking up right now. I'm thinking for old times sake I'll try one of my early November freshwater spots, although I'd rather be tog fishing. Season is winding down, might try some of my old winter holder spots in November to see if there are any schoolies taking up residence for the winter.

I had to work to get through all the micro bass to get a couple decent schoolies, but far to far to drive for a bunch of bass I'd need a trout rod to enjoy. In hind sight I think a freshwater trip for bass and pickeral would have been a better call, but there is still time for that and I might explore some of my old winter holdover spots to see if anything is hanging around for the winter.

Nope,,, didn't hear ya Mike, then again I don't hear much , hearing aid in one ear and the other is dead.
Bob (got striper) , I've been hankering for a November pickerel trip,,, best time of year for them IMO... Johnson weedless with a small perch belly pulled over the dying pick grass..... ferocious hits :-)
Wayne and I went thru a 5 gal bucket of greenies today,,, some nice out there!
image.jpg
Great seeing u and the boys out there today Paul (Niko) , what was Dominic using for tog bait? Cookies? :-)
