#^&#^&#^&#^& Hathaway of Martha's Vineyard

I have been informed that Mr. Hathaway passed away today.

He was a legend in my mind, and my schoolboy hero long before I ever met him. I was riding my bicycle beach fishing in NJ, while he was on the front cover of SWS repeatedly, for winning the Bass Derbies.

I came out to M.V. a college summer of 1966 to work construction for Grant Bros. in Edgartown. Jean Hathaway was the company secretary. #^&#^&#^&#^& Hathaway was good to me, BUT not right away: Protecting your "turf" and hard won knowledge were considered privileged, and to be earned.

Thanks for the info. I ran into him in Linda Jeans a couple weeks back. If #^&#^&#^&#^& liked you you were all set .If he didn't it wasn't like he hid it.A true surf fishing hard core legend. He was still claming up to a month ago.

Sorry to hear that Allen

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Still holds the MV Derby striped bass record of 60 lbs 2 ounces. Though I fished many derbies I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I enjoyed reading about the bass he caught. Rest in peace.

From mvderby website:

https://www.mvderby.com/~mvderby/history/index.php

"The derby produced some special stars. In 1956, Richard D. Hathaway of Edgartown walked into the derby headquarters with a winner, a 52 pound 9 ounce fish. Mr. Hathaway returned to the headquarters with a leader in 1978 and another in 1979."
