Nautil Owners...

I was just wondering for those of you that own Nautils, what type of braided line do you find works best on that reel (7500). I currently have 50# whiplash on, and seeing that it's now discontinued and I need to spool up before the fall, I need to find an alternative. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have 2 Nautils with spools loaded up with Power pro, Whiplash, Stealth and Fireline.

They all work well with the reel but I suggest you use 30# Fireline. It's stiff out of the box but it's unbelievably limp once you break it in. This line casts just as good as any of the others I mentioned and it's much easier to get out of trouble if you happen to get a windknot or some knots caused by line slap.

If I had to rank them here's how I'd listem

1) Whiplash
2) Fireline
3) Power Pro
4) Stealth

The Stealth is supposedly the new whiplash but it sinks like a rock and makes it damn near impossible to work the top water stuff properly. You can do it, but getting the line up out of the water is a task you will repeat over and over. For me, it's enough of a PITA to make the stealth my last backup spool.

My .02
