Manatee Explosion

Damn near had a heart attack this morning as I inadvertently drifted right on top of a manatee in about two feet of water on the edge of a grass flat as I'm casting back into the wind for sea trout on the deeper edge. All of a sudden I see this tail come out of the water about a foot and crashing back into the water with enough force to suck my yak down and fill the front with water. The water was evacuated under that tail and below my bow with the force that thing took off with. Scary and I'm glad the yak popped back up quick and I didn't flip with all the gear.

Windy day, but managed a mixed bag of fish, none really all that picture worthy. Even the pic's I took with the camera sort of washed out in the sun and glare, but got a good selfy while standing on a flat having an early lunch. Sea trout might be good to eat, but I'll take a black sea bass, tog or fluke for a decent fight any day. I'd like to come back in May with the snook and tarpon are thick and more aggressive.

Back to golf and then working my way home middle of the week, will try to bring some warmth with me.
