is it not possible to catch snappers or scup from shore in Soco?

for the second year in a row our camper is near charlestown for ten weeks. for the second year in a row the kids and i visit the local tackle shops, ask advice, buy bait and rigs, and then go get skunked. the fishing in ct generally stinks, but geez i can go get a couple of snappers when i want at this time of year.

any suggestions? we’ve tried weekapaug and charlestown breachways, and a couple spots further up charlestown pond near a big kayak rental place. also the short wall near george’s in galilee. i haven’t even seen a fish caught. it’s amazing.

What are you using for bait? Try the east wall access is from camp Cronin. I've seen guys catching scup there.

we had dinner in galilee, then walked the entire east wall, we didn’t have our gear, just checked it out. probably saw 25 people fishing for scup, didn’t see a nibble in 20 minutes, not one person we asked caught a fish, or saw a fish caught.

is black point safe for kids? newttiwn ave safe for kids?

is this all a scam to get me to buy bait? every report i read says scup are everywhere. not today they weren’t.

going to block for sea bass tomorrow, hear that is awesome, and that the striper fishing is awful.

No Black Point is NOT safe for kids. Hell, every year a couple of adults die there. You NEED Korkers to fish Black Point or Newton Ave or Bass Rock Road.

No boat, back in the suds.
