say a man who was shell fishing at the end of Nausauket Road was removed from the water after losing consciousness. He was taken to Kent County Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time. @wpri12

Well, he ain't doing well now.
WARWICK, RI — First responders Wednesday at around 7 a.m. responded to the beach at the end of Nausauket Road for a body found floating 50 yards offshore in Greenwich Bay.
The Warwick Fire Department retrieved the male victim and brought him to shore. James D. Kimball, 49, of the Nausauket area of Warwick, was pronounced dead at Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick Police Capt. Ryan Sornberger said in a news release.
Witnesses in the area reported that the man was previously seen digging for quahogs.
The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner. However, the incident does not appear to be suspicious, Sornberger said.

did you see on the news .where the end of that street is a right of way ..what you didn,t see is the no parking signs on both sides of the street all the way up .
it happens all the time ......... when a right a way is discovered /uncovered .....near the water ... the next council meeting up go the no parking signs
about 25 years ago 1/2 mile to east of this one / one of the guys the searches for rights of ways . found one that a waterfront owner added to his property ......... as soon as he was forced to open the path we used it . because directly below it / the flat was loaded with steamers twe didn,t bother with Quahogs . as soon as possible the no parking signs went up ... [Oil Man] RIP got dropped off by his wife & I bt Sheila ...telling her to be back in 3 hours .no phones back then .......... ya wanna see them go nuts when we pull up by boat .,.

IMO it was more likely that the poor guy had a heart attack. Pulling a rake is hard work. I dug in cold waters on days that were below freezing, on the Cape, and in neoprene waders, the problem wasn't staying warm.

I agree with Mike P. Our phys ed teacher down in Westerly died quahoaging in Winnapaug Pond. Waders, current, drowned; and if I recall correctly had a heart attack while digging in waist deep water. This in the late 60's. Needless to say in great shape.
