Good News On The Job Front...I Hope...
Light at the end of the tunnel?
These guys say that this employer's market is going to be short lived. I hope they are right...this job market SUCKS, especially if you're in tech or financial services (and a while ago I was in both areas at the same time.)
Retiring baby boomers = job boom like 1999...

Wonder what the makeup of employers is in RI.
Or do a lot of people just live there and work in MA?

A couple of big employers, like Hasbro, Textron, G-tect, CVS not too many mid sized companies and lots of small businesses. Its mostly folks who lie in the NE part of the state that commute to Boston. More than a few who live in Westerly are commuting to Groton Ct.

If I might ask, what's in Groton other than the Navy and defense contractors?
See the wheels turning in my head?

Illegals and H1-B
Yeah right.
The illegal immigrants that the unions want to become citizens and the H1-B workers that keep coming in and undercutting will take care of that. I can only guess that the unions want them here to sway the upcoming elections in some way or other. I do not see how it would be a benefit to them to have more people who are willing to work for less money...
Something to note - Read recently on slashdot.org that it is not legal for an American Citizen to relocate to India for a job. I am not sure how that works and have not followed up for the details.
You should be happy to note that they busted up an illegal imigrant ring in weymouth. Now I know why there has been such an increase in subsistence fishing going on in Weymouth area. Maybe that will let the legal immigrants loose some of the stigma associated with their country of origin. (The ones working damn hard at becoming citizens)
My neighbors were from sicily. They knew more about US history and government than I did and still do. Anyone who goes through the process and gains citizenship deserves it.

I quit the IT market... too much of a hassle after the dotcom gold rush...
Wilderness EMT lvl 2 ski patroller during the winter now... still haven't found a steady 100% summer job other than web dev here and there....
Hopefully find something far away from computers so I can continue enjoying myself at the very most

Just a guess.
Check out the Fire Dept. in your home town for EMT work.
Also in N.B. they have a couple Ambulance companies that might hire you.
Good Luck

Not unemployed, but not optimally employed if you know what I mean.
