bingo! Fluoro sucks... too eoxpensive and does nothing better than mono... I don;t care what you've heard about abrasion or light reflective qualities... 60-80# mono for eel leaders... 40-50# for plugs... 1 spool lasts 3 seasons |

No not at all. I have never in 41 years of fishing used a clip with an eel hook. My leader is tied to the working line with an Albright Knot and I have never had a problem. I think if you have line twist you may be working the eel too fast. |

Tie them on the spot usually. I found that if I tie them months ahead, I Don't much like them when I need them. Dunno why.

I have never had a reason to use Flouro, And I don't like standing on a rock 50 yrds in the surf tying knots. Pull out a leader and tie it on
If you use a spinning reel a swivel is a must have.

Amen. Never found there to be a decided advantage to Flouro. I've always used 50# mono and I've caught a couple of bass...  |

I just strip 15 feet of braid before i head out and tie one up on the spot. Then replace as needed, i find the storage easier to just bring the line and swivels and breakaways in a pouch.

Tie up about 100 each, plugging and eel leaders using Ande leader material. Not big on Flouro either. I'm with TattooBob, I don't want to be out there in the dark screwing around tieing up a leader. Keep them in 3' by 2' ziplock bags, never noted a brittle knot over a season.

Here's another big reason why I don't pre-tie leaders.
I fish the Canal. Even as long as I've fished, and how well I know the place, I still hang up. When I do, being that I fish 40# mono leaders on 65# braid, I usually break the leader before the braid. I tie off my braid to a barrel swivel with a palomar knot. If I want to use a pre-made leader with a barrel on the end, that means I'd have to use a huge loop in my braid palomar, and thread a 36" mono leader thru it before I tighten down the knot--which is a real pain in the arse to do.
I suppose I could pre-tie leaders with just a Breakaway clip on one end and leave the other end loose so I could knot it to the barrel with an improved clinch. But why bother? It's just as easy for me to tie two quick improved clinch knots as it is to tie one. And it takes more time just to unravel a coiled pre-made leader than it does to tie two clinch knots.
And no--my clinch knots don't fail, even when I tie them in heavy mono  |

I don't pretie. I used too, but found that I didn't have too. It's quick enough to tie a new leader, in the dark. |

i don't pretie, but i think i will try a couple to keep in my lure bag this year. i also like to usually go without any swivels or clips.

I tie as needed. Usually just 30 to 65# leader material. I leave 2 spools tied to my bag with zip ties and carry a small plano box with snaps and swivels in it.
As far as using Flouro, I almost never use it. The waters we fish aren't like fishing in the florida keys so the "flouro theory" isn't needed IMHO.

I usually tie the day I am going to go fishing and bring some snaps and swivels with me. If it is a boat day then I tie a bunch the night before.
