There are some decent size boats on that road. like clammer said, just stay in the "channel" going from the bridge to your dock, don't go out in the middle, that is where it is really shallow.

If you look on google maps satellite view you will see the "channel" and also like clammer said, if you do bump outside the channel at normal no-wake speed, it is just soft mud and you can back right back into the channel.

I kept my boat on the east side of the island for 3 years. GI is one of the best locations in RI, IMO. I am still looking for a new spot on the island to this day, as a matter of fact.
