Wow. nearly 50 mph to zero in 20 feet. Do passengers trap in on the Fast Ferry? I assume not??

From what I have heard the navy ship was DIW, likely awaiting transit time, the other ship was transiting into port and for a reason not yet disclosed turned around mid channel and was heading back out when it stuck the Fitzgerald.

Sitting in this area waiting to set navigation detail until closer to 6am is not uncommon, since most port times are in the daylight at Yokosuka.
I have sat aboard ship[ many times in this area during my 6 years stationed in Yokosuka. The Fitzgerald would have had lights on designating them as DIW and not under power. If the supply ship turned around quick enough, the navy ship may not have had time to get out of her way.

I think there is something more to this going on that has not been released yet....
