Here he is. Got him from a breeder up in New Hampshire. "Jack" is an 8 week old american lab. Parents are both AKC and field champs. What really made my day was when my son told me it was the best day of his life...man was he thrilled to get this dog...it hasn't left his side yet.

I vac every three days after my Golden, but I am used to it. It is my third. If I didn't get this one I probably would have found a lab. I think both breeds are precious.

You're not kidding. The pup behaves nicely with my 6 year old son, but he chases my 3 year old son around the house, latches onto his pant leg, then tries to shake him like a stick... Reminds me of the movie Vacation..

Congrats. What a great photo of 2 new friends for life, I hope you and your son get as much out of this relationship as I've gotten out of every dog I have ever loved.

My Gramps use to say "if you measure the "value" of a relationship by what you get out of it, compared to what you must put into it, than surely loving a dog is the best bargain man can ever make".

He was dead-on. We work. we play with and take care of our kids. we maintain our homes. We do a million chores that are required. We rest, and we exercise. With whatever puny amount of time is leftover, we give our dogs a portion of that. In return, they give us 100% of their hearts and souls. God Bless the dogs who love us and ask for so very little.

great book

BB, I don't know how you are at training, you may already be on top of it. If not I would get this book and follow it to the letter. You will not be disappointed. I have had great success with his techniques.

Congratulations. Beautiful looking pup.
Look at the size of his head and paws.

BB: Probably another Black Lab for you. My island friend had one that would eat all of his dead eels at the end of a trip. I know you have a lot of this by product during the course of your fishing season.

New and the old.

We've had "Jack" for almost three weeks now, and "Dino" for over 15 years. Dino is teaching him the ropes so far, but took a few good swipes at the pup just to let him know who's boss.

Been lots of sleepless nights so far too, but is getting better...kind of like having a newborn baby all over again.
