I would not consider it discouraging kids.....this year we have seen multiple kids from the metro west area dropped off in our complex in Plymouth by the same Boston based marketing company.....collecting for charities. One was to stop a pebble mine in bristol bay.....didn't know where bristol bay was....another collecting for vets......tried to tell me I'm not a vet since I served in the coast guard. Thread very groups are telling people not to give to door to door funds speakers since they get less than 10% of what is collected.

We work with a Coast Guard vet and there are 4 Navy vets (myself included) and we are always busting his balls about that....alll good ribbing though
